Hmmm well you know I find it hard to comment on movies that I haven't seen. But following my belief of "thinking like an academy member" I have come to a few conclusions. Peter O'Toole is owed, although the academy has given him his honorary oscar already. I agree that Sasha Baron Cohen will get in but won't win. My money is on Ryan for a nomination over Will Smith. I think that the odds for the win are between Forest Whitaker and Leonardo DiC. I think that Leo might actually do it this year given his strong body of work, he's the right age and colour (their prejudice not mine) and well everyone loves Leo.
Best actress is TOUGH. I agree with your top five for noms. Kate won't win as it wasn't a weighty enough performance and the film wasn't blow you away great. Peenelope (as I call her) is one to watch but probably won't win over Helen Mirren. Although I would love to see Merrs win again I think she knows as well as I that her performance was a bit of fun and although fabulous cannot beat Mirrs for that flawless performance as the Queen. Oh and American's love our royal family. She has to be a lock.
I think Best Actress is the EASIEST to predict feenix. Toughest for me is Best Supporting Actor and Best Actor. I can see DI Caprio getting the big old snub!

You saw Snow Cake? That's the indie I'm following this year (it hasn't come out in America yet)! How was it?
