I have no idea what has happened. Perhaps this is pure Academy rebellion. Perhaps because "Atonement" is all packaged up to be a prestige film they have decided, in unison, to ignore it regardless of the fact that the film is superb.
I am a little disgusted and appalled at this snub. This was the one area I felt for sure it would be nominated.
Bunch of bastards.

Is it me or have alot of reviews mentioned that "Into The Wild" had a rather weak screenplay in comparison? I guess this is the film to beat.

I know!!!!!
Damn WGA, they should've seen that it's because of films like "Atonement" that their art should be more valued. I think deep down most of them felt enraged that they didn't come up with the brilliant screenplay Hampton wrote.

IT is either that, or they are bringing it all back to America. I actually think the only foreign nominee is Ronald Harwood, for a life affirming film that easily crosses the language barrier.
I fear "Atonement" just reeks of England. It seems to be a year where they are looking towards themselves. Even with the actors (Marion Cotillard is to big a performance to be ignored for a nomination). \Even the foreign actors are playing American's or Canadians aside from the "Atonement" crew. Sniff

They should subtitle this year's ceremony "This is America".
